The Policy Practice has been commissioned by WWF International to embed political economy analysis in the People Powering Biodiversity (PPB) initiative, a global programme delivering community-led conservation in five mega-biodiverse countries. As PPB enters its reflection phase, the assignment will conduct light-touch, participatory political economy analyses (PEAs) in three of its contexts — Tanzania, Papua New Guinea and Tunisia — to understand what has enabled or constrained locally led conservation and what lessons should shape future programming.

Australia and Papua New Guinea agreed a new Comprehensive and Strategic Economic Partnership in 2020, which gives renewed priority to agriculture and rural development.

Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) requested a strategic review of its Economic Partnership with Papua New Guinea.
