Papua New Guinea: Economic Partnership Review

Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) requested a strategic review of its Economic Partnership with Papua New Guinea. This review looked across all of the economic programmes supported by DFAT and assessed the extent to which they were effective in meeting the strategic objectives of the Australian government. This entailed:

  • a brief political economy analysis;
  • an assessment of current support for Public Financial Management;
  • a review across all the major economic programmes;
  • recommendations for how the partnership can be best tailored to meet the developmental and strategic objectives of both Papua New Guinea and Australia.
