Political economy analysis of the energy transition in Ghana, Vietnam and Zambia

Between January 2023 and the end of March 2023, Neil McCulloch and Sam Bickersteth worked on a series of three, rapid, Political Economy Analyses of the energy transition for the FCDO-funded Climate Compatible Growth programme.  The PEAs conducted looked at:

  • The underlying reasons for Ghana’s proposed approach to the energy transition
  • The realism of Zambia’s plans for decentralised electricity provision
  • The drivers of the rapid developments in e-mobility in Vietnam.

The results will help to inform the CCG programme, so that its research, technical assistance and capacity building work will be better aligned with the underlying dynamics in each country.
