Supporting The Asia Foundation Timor-Leste Tourism team

Laure-Hélène Piron provided assistance to The Asia Foundation's Tourism Team to develop their own capacity to ‘think and work politically’. She facilitated a participative process for the team to undertake a political economy analysis of tourism opportunities at the international, national and local levels, and to adopt an adaptive management approach.

The Policy Practice has continued to support the tourism team in their 2021 and 2022 updates.

Laure-Hélène Piron, TPP Director, and Aderito Soares, TPP Associate, have assisted The Asia Foundation Timor-Leste Tourism Team update their political economy analysis in order to adjust their programme to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The Covid-19 restrictions on international travel and low level of vaccinations mean that tourists could not travel to Timor-Leste. Through a remote and facilitated process, The Policy Practice team have:

The Policy Practice provided analytical and drafting support for this report, which brings together experience from six countries on the implementation of the Ten Principles for Good International Engagement in Fragile States and Situations. This involved synthesising the proceedings of six country consultations (Afghanistan, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Sierra Leone and Timor Leste) and co-authoring the Global Report.
