Political Economy Support for the IMF's Governance Assessment for Pakistan

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) undertakes governance and anti-corruption assessments which incorporate political economy perspectives. They form part of the IMF's policy dialogues with governments and are published.

The Policy Practice, through its Principal Ben French, provided political economy analysis (PEA) support to the IMF for its governance assessment for Pakistan as part of the current extended financing facility. The collaboration was designed to integrate nuanced political economy insights into the IMF's assessment process.

TPP's role included offering expert advice to guide the design of the IMF's missions. This involved assistance with identifying key stakeholders, formulating interview questions, and reviewing core documents. Furthermore, TPP provided analysis of the broader political economy context and contributed to shaping the final recommendations as they were developed.
