Dr Mesfin Gebremichael (PhD Bradford 2012) is a senior member of Addis Ababa University’s Graduate Institute of Peace & Security Studies and (since 2018) Director of the African Universities Alliance Research Centre of Excellence for post-conflict societies. He has developed a strong research and training record in political economy over the last decade and a half in the areas of conflict, federalism, and party political dynamics in Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa, managing diverse teams of researchers on projects working with partners including IGAD, the AU and the Ethiopian House of Federation, and contributing policy analysis to the annual high-level Tana Forum. He is co-editor of the journal of African Solutions for African Problems, contributes commentary to the UN Academic Council, and has also conducted policy relevant regional research and analysis for a range of NGO and international development partners.
