Investments in Forests and Sustainable Land Use - Component 2
The Policy Practice, in partnership with Palladium, is contributing to Component 2 of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office’s Investments in Forests and Sustainable Land Use Phase 2 programme. This £500 million initiative supports climate action through sustainable land use and forest protection. Component 2 focuses on developing sustainable business models and market systems in the Congo Basin.
Led by TPP Associate Theodore Trefon, and involving TPP Principals Olly Owen and Sam Bickersteth, TPP is advising on the political economy of the region, undertaking conflict sensitivity assessments, and supporting programme design. TPP will also participate in stakeholder workshops, research activities, and field missions to help shape the strategy and geographic focus of future interventions.
The programme aims to strengthen cooperatives and small enterprises, support sustainable supply chains, and improve access to finance. TPP’s work will help ensure interventions are well-targeted, context-sensitive, and contribute to long-term sustainable livelihoods and forest conservation.
This work sets the foundation for the implementation of technical assistance and investment packages that will support communities, businesses, and ecosystems across the Congo Basin over the coming years.
