Criminal Justice Scoping Study
Laure-Hélène Piron, Policy Practice Director, led a scoping study for the British Embassy in Morocco of the criminal justice system. The project analysed how Moroccans access justice, weak points in the criminal justice chain, and the incentives that are promoting or blocking reform.
The project had to adapt to the Covid-19 pandemic; field work was replaced by a desk-based review of the literature and key informant interviews. The study examined how Covid-19 responses have affected the criminal justice system (such as an increase in domestic violence and dealing with Covid-19 in prisons) and how improved criminal justice could contribute to stability as part of Morocco’s post Covid-19 recovery.
