This Afghanistan Political Economy Analysis was written at the request of USAID as part of an ongoing research project on the evolving political economy of Afghanistan under Taliban rule and is shared with USAID’s permission. The report’s findings are based on open-source information and background interviews conducted in the fall of 2022. It was submitted in May 2023.
